How do you as a brand ensure that you aren't perceived the same as everyone else? I've put together 5 simple truths that will help you stand out.
1. Stay true to yourself.
If you like it others will too. In businesses, it's your job to find out who those people are and focus on that group alone. Don't try and sell or communicated with everyone. It never works. Find your ideal customer and talk only to them.
2. Be consistent.
Whatever you decide, stick with it and don't deviate. Colours, products, language, sales, channels and more. Stay consistent and be persistent. Take a look at Canva for easy templates and tools for support. It takes at 7 times for a message to reach its intended recipient. Make templates and stay with your visual style. If you have the budget, develop guidelines, it will help you immensely and your business will look more professional.
The same message across multiple channels will be much more effective than something new every time. People like patterns and need to recognise the brand they are buying into. You want to build loyalty before you take the next step.
3. You don't have to be different, just be better.
It is a busy world out there. The noise is crazy in every channel. In a digital world, it's hard to compete with price or product. What you can offer is excellent customer service. Customers are willing to pay a premium for it as it saves time and energy and effort. And people like to feel special. Treat your customers with extra care and they will come back for more.
4. Keep in touch with your existing customers.
If you have made a sale, don't let that customers slip away. It's five times more expensive to find a new customer than to sell to an existing one. Ensure you give your customers added value. Free advice on a topic that is of interest to them is always good. Share knowledge and expertise and your loyal customer base will stick with you and come back when the time is right.
5. Keep it simple
Keep your brand simply and easy to recognise. To find topics and interesting material. Check out Google Trends for inspiration. Most people communicate solely via their smartphones. If you send an email, make sure it's mobile-friendly.
